Hi!

My name is Leah. I’m an AfroIndigenous and AfroLatina writer, researcher, and creative thinker in Seattle, WA.

Words are messengers, carrying individual meaning, story, and emotion.

These messengers meet to create visceral experiences for a reader. My feature writing taps into a person’s memories, desires, nostalgia, beliefs, doubts, and curiosities. Few things bring me more joy than crafting thoughtful communication that connects people to themselves and each other.

I am delighted and playful when developing strategic language for each project. I work to develop a strong brand voice, style, and tone, allowing me to work seamlessly in any field—including science and nature, creative and lifestyle, events and politics, and community organizing.

My writing practice is designed to move an audience to action, whether to ponder truth or purchase products.

Messages are all around us, each vying for our attention, whether to sell services or form beliefs. It can be difficult to stand out among all these voices. Let me help you craft a message that is immediately intriguing and beneficial to your goals.

I do not charge an hourly rate for copywriting. Here’s why: I may be pondering the “best” word or phrase for days at a time, even when I’m not on the clock. An idea may hit me just before bed, on a walk, when listening to music, or as I am baking bread.

My Inspiration

While I was trained in the classical cannon of literature and Standard American English (“proper” grammar), I draw deepest inspiration from Black and Indigenous women, queer, and femme voices who are often overlooked among the ivory towers of academe.
In my private decolonization & reeducation work, I indulge in bell hooks, Toni Morrison, Zora Neal Hurston, Audre Lorde, Phillis Wheatley, Robin Wall Kimmerer, Louise Erdrich, Leslie Marmon Silko, and others for wisdom, guidance, and to act as a mirror.
As a Black, Chahta, and Mexican woman, I write with equity and accessibility in mind—hoping to translate complex thoughts and traditions into language common folk connect with. Because everybody deserves access to beauty and rich meaning, my editing style produces plainspoken poetry.
